Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron, producing intense beams of light that let scientists study everything from viruses and vaccines to batteries and jet engines.
Our facility
The machine accelerates electrons to near light speed; the light they emit is directed down beamlines to experimental stations where researchers carry out their work.
